Greetings from the Long Lost Blogger...

I figure it's about time I popped in with a blog post!  Our family is moving from eastern to western Canada in about two weeks and life has become totally filled with all the preparations needed to make this happen.  Richard and I spent a week in Edmonton recently looking for a house and after many ups and downs we were successful in finding what we hope is the perfect place for us.  Although I won't be living in the same town as my sister, Jen, it is still fairly close to where she lives and I'll also be living within easy driving distance of one of the best scrapbooking stores I've ever seen!  Needless to say, my scrappy time will be very limited for the next while as we make this move and then get settled in but I'm looking forward to the day when my little scrapping area is set up and ready for me again.

In the meantime, I thought I'd post a layout I did using a photo of Jen's girls, Diane and Lisa, which I took during my summer vacation this past July.  Most of the papers I used were from the April Paper Poppy kit.  The goofy little bird in the upper left corner is from Basic Grey and is there as a reminder of how goofy and giggly these two girls were acting as I tried to take their picture. :-)

I used this sketch from Let's Capture These Sketches.

Until next time...

Project 365

Just a quick post to say that I finally have my Project 365 blog up and running.  Just click on the camera icon in the sidebar if you'd like to take a look. I'm really hoping that blogging about this project will give me a little bit of motivation to make some progress on it!  Having said that, we are leaving on Friday for our house-hunting trip in Edmonton so I think my scrappy time is going to be very limited until life settles down again.

Until next time...

And the Winners Are...

Today is the day of my 'big' giveaway draw! ;-)  Nothing fancy here in the way I did the draw - I wrote the seven names on little pieces of paper, folded them up small and put them in a bowl.  Then I had to wait for my son, Matthew, to get home from school so he could draw two winners for me.

Congratulations to Audra and Teri!!  Just use the email button in my sidebar to send me your snail mail address and I'll get your flowers in the mail to you this week.  Thanks to everyone who played along.  I really enjoyed reading your comments.  :-)

Until next time...

Why I Love to Scrap...(and a small giveaway)

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at the August 2010 issue of Scrapbooks Etc. magazine before bedtime.  It is NEVER a good idea for me to do anything scrap-related just before going to bed because my mind starts turning with all the possibilities and then I lay awake for hours!  But on this particular night it was a very good idea for these two reasons:

First, there was an interesting article on page 8 called “Scrap Happy – Share the Reasons You Love Scrapbooking”.  The basic idea is to create a personal page documenting just that.  I decided to take some photos of my scrapping space and some of my favourite scrappy stuff and include the photo of myself that I use on my blog.  The papers are from the Fancy Pants Designs Road Show collection.  I used sketch #8 from Helen Croft.

And second, I decided that I could use this idea to do a small giveaway.  I’ve made some crocheted flowers to give away.  These are the new & improved version that I talked about in my last post.  All you have to do is leave me a comment telling me why you love scrapbooking.  On Monday, November 8th I’ll randomly draw two winners who will each receive a set of 10 flowers that you can fancy up with buttons or brads to use on your layouts or cards.

Good luck to everyone who enters the draw!

Until next time...
Susan :-)
